Large antique wooden pharmacy drawer with compartments - From a pharmacy or herbalist's cabinet
4 compartments
Found in Parisian cellars that were used as laboratories and storage rooms for pharmacists to prepare their prescriptions from 1900 to 1950.
Originally, it was part of a large storage unit that no longer exists. All that remains are a few drawers that were used to store products and glass bottles in this cellar.
The drawer, which can be used as a storage box, is vintage with signs of wear, such as scratches, stains, etc. See photos.
Dimensions:
Width: 39.5cm - Length: 50cm - Height: 19.5cm - Depth of compartments: 18cm
4 compartments measuring approximately 22x18cm
Beautiful workmanship: dovetail joints.
The presence of internal dividers suggests that it was used to store dry goods, such as roots or herbs. The fact that the interior walls were left unfinished allowed the wood to breathe, which was crucial for the preservation of medicinal plants.
