The Apothecary’s Little Drawer
Antique solid wood drawer from a pharmacy trade cabinet, suitable for use as a storage box.
Low, flat trade drawer, ideal for storing documents or repurposed as a wall shelf. Perfect for creating a small cabinet of curiosities with small items.
Handcrafted using traditional methods with dovetail joints and a turned wooden pull knob.
Good structural condition, with a beautiful, rough patina from use.
Found in the cellars of Parisian buildings that served as laboratories and storerooms for pharmacists preparing their compounded medicines from the 1900s to the 1950s.
Originally, it must have been part of a storage unit or a desk that has since disappeared; all that remains are a few drawers that were used to store products, blank pharmacy labels and other office items in this cellar.

Handwritten label, pen inscription, neat calligraphy, with its thick and thin strokes.
Indicating to the pharmacist that it must be stored separately from other substances in the cabinet for toxic substances, the famous ‘poison cabinet’.
It comes from the former cellar-laboratory of a Parisian pharmacy. The bottles had not been moved from the shelves since the late 1950s. The cellar had served as a medical analysis laboratory and a laboratory for the pharmacy’s compounded preparations from 1900 until around 1950.
