Rio rosewood, also known as palisander, used for interior and exterior veneering.
Marquetry in brass, bone and silver-plated metal scrollwork.
19th century - Period 1855-1865
Some bone mesh is missing in places, and there is a very slight chip in the wood under the bottom left corner, but it is very minor.
Sold with its key, the lock works.

Charrière, a major 19th-century Parisian manufacturer, was a pioneer in the design of high-precision surgical and anatomical instruments.
