Early 20th century

Dr Roux discovered diphtheria serum and headed the Pasteur Institute, which he co-founded with Pasteur, his close collaborator.

This sterilisable syringe for diphtheria serum with its rubber plunger has graduations on the metal body. 

Dimensions of the box: 18.5x13.5cm

The box also contains a spare glass tube, a hose that was once flexible rubber but has hardened over time, and a Pravaz syringe with celluloid tips, the needle tip of which is broken.
