Fossil tooth of Megalodon - Otodus megalodon
Fossil shark tooth
The megalodon is an extinct species of shark that lived during the Miocene period, approximately 23 to 5.3 million years ago (duration: 18 million years).
Considered to be one of the most important and powerful predators to have ever existed, it could be found in all regions of the world, hence the diverse origins of the teeth found.
Provenance: Indonesia
The longest diagonal is measured at 11.8cm.
The enamel is in good condition and of a beautiful color. Very nice tooth shape!
The root has not been restored, as is often the case with teeth from Indonesia, which are brittle, but a crack on the lower left side has been repaired.
The serrations on the edge of each side of the teeth are still present!
