Description

19th century photographer's focusing loupe

Focusing loupe for photographers from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

When taking a photograph, the photographer would use this focusing loupe against the ground glass of their camera to assess the sharpness of the image formed.

The magnifying glass can also be used to examine a print on a transparent light source.

Adjustment is made by pulling on the tube, which is less precise than with an Archimedes screw focusing magnifying glass.
