Kaufmann posograph in case - For photography
Developed by Auguste Robert Kaufmann, the posograph is designed to determine the exposure time for photography according to the shooting conditions.
It is a manual, mechanical exposure meter, adjusted by moving the metal sliders all around the plate, which are interconnected. You slide the little tabs on the outside of the frame and the correct settings for the camera are displayed. Each movement of the slider has more or less influence on the others. A complex internal diagram ensures the connections. This is an extremely ingenious mechanical calculator.
One side of the plate is printed for outdoor shots, the other for indoor shots. It's extremely precise!
The result is almost a work of art, presented in an attractive leather pouch bearing the name of the POSOGRAPH camera.
Patented in 1921 - It was sold for a decade until the early 1930s, when the first electronic posemeters began to appear on the market and gradually replace it.
Dimensions of the Posograph: 13x8.5cm
Case dimensions: 13.5 x 9.8 cm
Some imperfections at the bottom of the plates: see photos
