This heraldic engraving on copper from 1722 comes from the first volume of Alexander Nisbet’s A System of Heraldry, Speculative and Practical: with the True Art of Blazon (Edinburgh, page 515).
The illustration is signed by the Edinburger engraver Robert Mylne.

Complete vertical band bringing together three great lines of the Scottish nobility.
Dimensions: Sheet: 25 × 7 cm - Black mat cardboard with golden thread: 38 × 20 cm.
There are the Grahams (related to the Marquess of Montrose), the Fletters (including Andrew Fletcher, a famous patriot from East Lothian who opposed the 1707 Act of Union) and the Lauders, historical guardians of the island fortress of Bass Rock.
Graham of Morphie (top): Azure with a chevron of gules accompanied by three shells of gold. Supports: two wild men. Crest: a wringing hawk. Motto: DO NOT FORGET.
Fletcher of Salton (in the center): Azure with a gold-anchored cross limited to four shells of the same one. Supports: two griffins. Crest: a rising horse’s head. Motto: GOD FOR US.
Lauder of Bass (at the bottom): From silver to double treasure with flowers and counter-flowers of sinople, with gold griffon embroidering. Supports: two angels. Crest: a swan. Motto: SUB UMBRA ALARUM TUARUM (In the shadow of your wings).
