This sponge appears as a cluster of thick-walled pipes.

These pipes are almost always vertical.

The consistency is soft, but elastic: the sponge always regains its shape.

It feeds by filtering microscopic particles from the sea water.
The sponge is attached to the base by a brass rod, but the sponge remains mobile: It can't be removed from the base, but it can be moved a little.
