Poudre de Capucins - Capuchin powder
A 19th-century pharmacy bottle with a beautiful black and gold paper label glued to the inside.
Cevadilla comes from a Central American hellebore, Veratrum sabadilla.
The fruits of the plant are ground into a powder, the famous Capuchin powder, which can be used to treat parasites such as scabies.
A preparation containing this powder was used to treat Napoleon I's eczema.
Made of blown glass, there is still a trace of the cane's pontil under the bottle.
