Authentic cowl collar of demijohn (cappellotto da damigiana) in pressed moulded and lithographed cardboard.
This ephemeral period packaging came to cap the neckline of large wicker transport demijohn to seal the neck.
Look at the last image, you can see a demijohn from the Museum of Glass of Empoli wearing her head and other headdresses by her side.
Manufactured by S.A.I.V.A. (Piacenza) for the winery Andrea Cioni & Figlio in Empoli.
Superb Liberty (Art Nouveau) graphics with bright colors.
It includes the royal coat of arms of the Kingdom of Italy, the profile of King Victor Emmanuel III and the mention "Gran Premio Roma 1913".
Two metal eyelets at the base made it possible to pass the sealing string directly connected to the basket.

It comes from the former cellar-laboratory of a Parisian pharmacy. The bottles had not been moved from the shelves since the late 1950s. The cellar had served as a medical analysis laboratory and a laboratory for the pharmacy’s compounded preparations from 1900 until around 1950.
