Conscript badge: Good for service - Bon pour le service
From the end of the 19th century until the 1930s, it was customary for conscripts to wear these brass badges on the lapels of their jackets or caps. Sometimes it said Good for service or Good for girls!
After the medical examination that decided whether or not they would be called up for military service, conscripts would wear these badges and go out to celebrate before leaving for the army.
Here the badge is illustrated with a black and white image of a conscript and a naked woman.
The grenade tells us that the conscript was going to join the Artillery to do his military service.
There is a pin at the back to fix the badge.
