The Diodon genus groups together species of fish from the Diodontidae family that have the ability to swell. Another of their characteristics is that they have spines.
When they feel in danger, Diodon inflate very quickly to frighten off their attacker. In fact, they inflate by accumulating air or water in their oesophagus until they take on a spherical shape.
