Parfumerie Vincent Delabrierre - Crème de Lys (Lily cold cream)
Antique earthenware ointment jar, 19th century
The Vincent Delabrierre perfumery house was founded in 1780, and enjoyed great renown in the mid-19th century, from the 1830s until the end of the Second Empire in 1870. It was located at 55 rue du Bac in Paris. The company won 2 bronze medals at the 1861 exhibitions for Eau de Lys and Eau Delabrierre, and again in 1878.
After the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, the company went into decline, as few of its advertisements appeared in the newspapers of the time. In the 1880s, it moved to boulevard d'Enfer and its name was changed to Delabrierre-Thiou when the chemist Thiou took over the management of the company. I found no further information about the company after the late 1880s.
