Wolverine skull (Gulo gulo)
Provenance: Canada
The wolverine belongs to the same family as otters or polecats, the mustelids, of which it is the largest and heaviest member.
Adapted to walking in the snow and the cold, the wolverine can travel great distances to find its food. The wolverine is essentially a solitary animal.
Despite its modest size, this carnivore is considered one of the most dangerous in the Far North, if not the most dangerous. A male wolverine can weigh up to 18kg.
A formidable predator with great strength and voracity, the wolverine is also extremely cunning and possesses an incredible survival instinct.
It can be very dangerous and aggressive, earning it a reputation as a fearsome animal in Canadian popular culture.
An aggressive, ferocious animal that, according to legend, can stand up to even a grizzly bear. It has a reputation for raiding camps and tents, destroying traps and stealing bait. The Micmac Amerindians call him the Evil Spirit, because he's more cunning than the fox and gifted with uncommon strength. He possesses uncommon abilities to evade hunters and, if caught, will try anything to escape.
