The whip spiders belongs to the arachnid order, but is not a spider.
They suffer from the bad reputation of spiders, even though they are harmless to humans because they have no venomous apparatus.
The whip spiders is a nocturnal insect that doesn't have a nest like tarantulas or a burrow like scorpions; it's a nomadic animal that hunts at night.
