A purple variety of quartz, its unique colour gives this semi-precious stone a glassy, mesmerising shine.

Already revered in ancient times, amethyst was believed to protect against drunkenness, its Greek name meaning ‘not drunk’ (amethystos).

Sourced from Brazil, the amethyst is presented here on a museum-style metal base.
