The shell of the Nautilus is expanded and curls forward in a spiral shape.
You can see the brass rod that holds the nautilus in place on the base - 1 visible chip on the edge: See photos.
They are found mainly on certain Pacific islands and off the coast of Australia.
These animals have changed little morphologically over the last 400 million years.
