The shell of the Nautilus is expanded and curls forward in a spiral shape.

You can see the brass rod that holds the nautilus in place on the base1 visible chip on the edge: See photos.

They are found mainly on certain Pacific islands and off the coast of Australia.

These animals have changed little morphologically over the last 400 million years.

Height on base: approx. 28cm - Nautilus diameter: approximately 15cm
