Description

Coffin Bank - Skeleton

Mechanical piggy bank made in Japan in the late 1960s to early 1970s, approximately 1968-1972. Manufactured by YONE, the brand name is visible on one side of the box in a diamond shape. Yone is short for Yoneya Toys Co. Ltd.

The box is made of lithographed sheet metal, the skeleton's arm and skull are made of plastic, and the original black fabric covering the arm is still in place.

These piggy banks were subsequently manufactured in Hong Kong in the mid-1970s and then in Taiwan, but in plastic rather than sheet metal.

Simply place a coin on the coffin where it says COIN, and the skeleton will reach out to grab it and make it disappear into the coffin, then nod its head.

Can be wound using a mechanical winding mechanism on the side. A trapdoor opens at the front to retrieve the coins.
