Species: Trimeresurus albolabris - Green pit viper - Habitat: Asia
Trimeresurus is a genus of snakes in the Viperidae family. Species in this genus are often referred to as Asian palm pit vipers, Asian lanceheads, and green pit vipers.
The venom of green rattlesnakes is moderately potent and their bites are only fatal in rare cases, but cause unbearable pain and sometimes necrosis.
They are responsible for 50% to over 70% of snake bites to humans in some parts of Asia.
This is a mainly arboreal snake whose green colouring blends in perfectly with its surroundings. When it goes hunting at dusk or at night, it will suspend itself in an S posture under the branch of a tree.
