South African Oryx horn polished on base - Oryx gazella

From reserves in South Africa where the herds must be regulated.

In decline in the 20th century, the animal is no longer threatened today. On the contrary, conservation efforts have been so successful that the oryx now compete with domestic livestock for access to pasture and water.

Oryx typically have long, straight horns, ringed at the base, pointing backwards.

The horn has been fully polished to a beautiful shine.
