The common eland (Taurotragus oryx), also known as the southern eland or eland antelope, is a savannah and plains antelope found in East and Southern Africa

The Cape Eland is one of the largest antelopes in Africa. The animal measures 2.80 to 3.80 meters in length and is 1.50 to 1.80 meters high at the shoulder.

This species is not threatened and does not appear on the CITES list of the Washington Convention.

The horns come either from livestock farms (these antelopes are raised for their meats, skins like ours beef), or from regulations in the herds of the South African reserves, or from horns found in nature.
