Fossil of Ammonite "fern" from Madagascar

Description

Fossil of Ammonite "fern" from Madagascar whose faces have been polished.

Ammonites are an extinct subclass of cephalopod molluscs, as are the nautiluses today.

They were characterized by a more or less coiled univalve shell in which only the last box was occupied by the animal, the other boxes being used to control its flotation.

Very beautiful patterns that look like oak leaves, or therefore ferns.

The added bonus of this fossil is its iridescent opalized center.

Diameter about 15cm
